Combining Philanthropy and Business
26 June 2009Since its founding in 2003 by the visionary Naveen Jain, Intelius has sought to be an organization lauded by its clients, employees, colleagues, competitors, corporate beneficiaries and other stakeholders.
Identity protection, search, and screening solutions provider Intellius, is one model company that integrates philanthropy into its business practices. Indeed, even through times of economic turmoil, it has unceasingly given part of its hard earned profits to the less fortunate in their local community.
One such avenue is through Overlake Service League, a charity that focuses on alleviating the living conditions of Bellevue School District area families. A staunch benefactor for a number of years, it has been given due honour last March 2009 during the 10th Annual Step Up to the Plate Benefit Luncheon. Intelius had decided to be a major sponsor for this event as well.
Director of Fundraising & Development for OSL, Trisha Carpenter, shares, “As jobs fall away and many families find themselves for the first time needing help to survive, the services Intelius helps us provide are more important then ever. I think Overlake Service League and Intelius are perfect partners for building a better community.”
This is not only true with the case of OSL; Intellius has also committed itself as a company to inspiring its own employees to take the initiative as well. Encouragement comes in Intelius’ 2009 introduction of an employee matching program. The company promises to give the same amount that its employees choose to pledge part of their salaries for approved non-profit organizations. Its people also has the option to take paid leave if it is spent volunteering for philanthropic work in the local area. This comes as no surprise from a company that has raised the bar of corporate giving, with over $200,000 given out in aid to more than a dozen worthy causes.
